This dramatic setting of the story Christ told about the Good Samaritan has been set by John Horman in a very interesting manner. First, all of the two-part writing is canonic. Secondly, the highly repetitive motive of three notes at the opening helps give the opportunity to concentrate on the drama of the text so that the word is more important than a melody. It also makes for easy learning and memorization so that concentration can be part of the story. An excellent vehicle for clear enunciation, as in 'The Festival Alleluia'. This piece is a winner; we're doing it this year staging it as a little play, involving mostly the boys. Very easy 2-part, artfully written, a great message
