"The Girl from Ipanema" ("Garota de Ipanema") is a 1962 Brazilian bossa nova/jazz song by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes (English lyrics by Norman Gimbel), which became a 1964 global hit. Famous for the Stan Getz and João Gilberto recording featuring Astrud Gilberto, it won the 1965 Grammy for Record of the Year. This version was developed from a lead sheet and features a root-based chord blocking that John and I have used in a number of our arrangments - we hope you like what we've done with this great tune!
