Antonio Carlos Jobim (1925-1994) is ongetwijfeld één van de grootste Braziliaanse componisten, in de eerste plaats bekend als auteur van prachtige songs. Hij combineerde moderne klassieke elementen met een lichte swing wat de individuele partijen zo eenvoudig maakte dat de verfijnde harmonische structuren bijna onopgemerkt bleven. Deze combinatie zorgde ervoor dat zijn songs universele klassiekers werden. Jobim was een grote pionier van de Bossa Nova en schreef verschillende hits in dit genre, zoals “Desafinado” en “The Girl from Ipanema”. Dit laatste werk introduceerde in 1963 de bekende vrouwelijke gitarist Astrud Gilberto, door een opname van dit stuk samen met de bekende saxofonist Stan Getz. In 1967 nam Frank Sinatra het werk op en dit droeg uiteraard heel wat tot de bekendheid van het stuk bij. Dit is een pittig arrangement voor blaasorkest door Peter Kleine Schaars, een ware tovenaar met moderne ritmes.

Antonio Carlos Jobim (1925-1994), undoubtedly one of the greater Brazilian composers, is especially known as a songwriter. He combined modern classical touches with a suave swing rendering individual musical parts with such simplicity that it masks the thrilling harmonic structures. These twin elements combine to make his songs universal classics. Jobim pioneered Bossa Nova and wrote many of its greatest hits, such as “Desafinado” and “The Girl from Ipanema”. This piece introduced the famous guitarist Astrud Gilberto to the World at large in 1963 by means of a recording with the participation of star saxophonist Stan Getz. It was also recorded with great success by Frank Sinatra in 1967. This is a sparkling wind band arrangement by Peter Kleine Schaars who is extremely skilful in arranging modern rhythms for the symphonic band medium.

Antonio Carlos Jobim (1925 – 1994), l’un des plus grands compositeurs brésiliens, est avant tout connu comme auteur de chansons remarquables. Il a combiné des éléments de musique classique moderne avec un swing suave, ce qui donne aux parties musicales individuelles une telle simplicité qu’on se rend à peine compte des subtilités des structures harmoniques. L’amalgame de ces éléments a fait de ses chansons de véritables succès, voir des classiques immortels. Jobim a été le pionnier de la bossa nova et a écrit les plus grands succès du genre, tels “Desafinado” et “The Girl from Ipanema”. Ce morceau a introduit en 1963 la guitariste Astrud Gilberto sur la scène mondiale, grâce à l’enregistrement auquel participait également le grand saxophoniste Stan Getz. L’enregistrement de la chanson par Frank Sinatra en 1967 contribua largement à son succès mondial. Le présent arrangement subtil par Peter Kleine Schaars démontre une fois de plus son talent pour introduire les rythmes exotiques dans le répertoire contemporain de nos orchestres à vents.

Die Kombination aus modernen klassischen Elementen mit einem leichten Swing, welche die individuellen Partien so einfach machte, dass die verfeinerten harmonischen Strukturen fast unbemerkt blieben. Diese Kombination sorgte dafür, dass seine Songs zu universellen Klassikern wurden. Jobim war ein großer Pionier des Bossa Novas. Er schrieb unterschiedliche Hits in diesem Genre, sowie "Desafinado" und "The Girl from Ipanema". Dieses letzte Werk führte 1963 die bekannte Gitarristin Astrud Gilberto, durch die Aufnahme dieses Stückes zusammen mit dem bekannten Gitarristen Stan Getz, ein. 1967 nahm Frank Sinatra das Werk auf und trug selbstverständlich einiges zu der Bekanntheit des Stückes bei. Es ist ein schwungvolles Arrangement für das Blasorchester von Peter Kleine Schaars, ein wahrer Zauberer mit modernen Rhythmen.
