The Entertainer was originally written by Scott Joplin in 1902 as a ‘ Piano Rag’ with the subtitle ‘A Rag Time Two Step’ – a popular dance at the time. Over the years, it has been performed in a number of different musical genres and contexts. It gained in popularity when it was adapted by Marvin Hamlisch in 1973 as the theme for the film ‘The Sting’.

2. The arrangement is orthophonic without the optional Tenor Saxophone part.
