This version of "The Entertainer" also known by many today as the "Ice Cream Truck Song" was written by Scott Joplin in 1902. It is of the style known as Ragtime which was prevalent in the late 1800s and early 1900s. This simplified version allows you to play the main melody without the complexity of chords and octaves in the right hand. The left hand uses a slowly moving bass line that outlines the harmonic movement heard in the original piece. This is a great way to enjoy playing this wonderful, happy, and famous tune without having the advanced piano skills required for the original arrangement.
