The Doctor's Theme, one of Murray Gold's greatest compositions for Doctor Who's return in 2005. Full of mystery and sadness, but still with rising optimism, it paints the picture of our two-hearted TARDIS traveller fresh from the Time War. This is a Doctor that has been to hell and back, and is learning to keep pushing on. The universe is a big place, and there's still a lot of people he can help.
This arrangement condenses the piece found on the season 1 soundtrack, which originally featured piano, strings, synths, harp, solo flute and a female vocalist. Melodic lines have been brought together, but the slower tempo helps keep this manageable. Chords are long and stretched, and this is a piece full of simple exression, and great to play as freely as you like.
