The Boxer is an iconic work by Simon and Garfunkel. Here it is arranged in four guitar parts, suitable for both quartet or large guitar ensemble.
This arrangement has the following benefits in a single download:
(1) A full score is provided showing both the notes and TAB
(2) Individual parts are provided in both notes and TAB. These are shown on separate sheets. I am aware that many teachers dislike TAB so the option is given to include or exclude it as the purchaser wishes
(3) Each part has melodic interest. The primary vocal lines are played by guitars 1 & 2. Guitar 3 plays accompanying ornamental figures and also the instrumental solos transcribed from the original recording. Guitar 4 plays a finger-style chordal accompaniment throughout using recognisable chord shapes.
The arrangement is appropriate for intermediate players but will be suitable as an unusual repertoire item for professional groups as well. It is an outstanding work for music school concerts. A performance will last for approximately five minutes.
A film showing 16 guitarists playing remotely from all over the world will be uploaded before the end of July 2020.
