Composed by Jean-Phillipe Rameau. Arranged by James Smith. This edition: pdf. Classical, Early Music. 8 pages. Ensemble Llama Music Publications #782020. Published by Ensemble Llama Music Publications (A0.1182275)."The Arts and the Hours" is an interlude from Rameau's last opera, Les Boréades. The libretto, attributed to Louis de Cahusac (1706–1759), is loosely based on the Greek legend of Abaris the Hyperborean. This particular work has recently gained traction after being recorded by Vikingur Ólafsson on piano, reviving one of Rameau's most beautiful works. This arrangement works perfectly as a slow, lyrical addition to any concert.
A woodwind quartet version of this arrangement can be found here.
