THE ARGUMENT by Joe Procopio Alto Saxophone - Digital Sheet Music

By Joe Procopio

THE ARGUMENT By JOE PROCOPIO THE ARGUMENT is a Saxophone solo for two saxophones that imitates an argument between a man and a woman. The back and forth between the saxes models the exchange one might hear in a squabble between the sexes. The woman is mirrored by the higher sounding saxophone and the man is matched by the lower. The quarrel becomes more and more frenetic leaving the listener to decide who wins the argument. This is all done in fun making the piece a special pleasure to listen to and play. It is interesting to note that THE ARGUMENT can be performed by one Alto Saxophonist. It is a challenge but it is possible providing the artist can play harmonics and can darken the tone for the lower sounding sax. I personally have performed this work in public many times alone on my Alto with either a synthesizer or a small live Jazz Ensemble. In fact, the recording provided here for a preview is just me with a synthesizer. The recording is taken from my CD Joe Procopio LIVE IN CONCERT.

The Argument

I enjoyed the ease with which I was able to make the purchase. I purchased, downloaded, printed and was playing this fun number in a matter of minutes. This arrangement is definitely an advanced piece although much will be playable at an intermediate level. A highly developed altissimo range is required to play one section.
