    Great book for beginners

I bought this for a friend who's taking up fiddle as an adult -- no musical background. This book, especially since they've added the DVD, is a great basic intro to violin technique and fiddling -- even can teach music reading with some motivation on the student's part. The techniques don't conflict with classical technique and in fact ARE classical, so no bad habits are encouraged.
