It had been a subject of fascination of science fiction authors, mathematicians, and artists alike. This marimba solo is designed to emulate the geometry of a tesseract through four aspects to create a piece that flows with textural play and utilizes the full instrument: 4/4 time, the use of four mallets, four sections determined by permutation and hand movement, and quartal harmony. It is carefully designed for upper intermediate to advanced percussionists as an introduction to contemporary harmony and as well as an etude on mallet permutations. It requires the use of a five-octave marimba.
