This solemn and remarkable composition from Sergius Taneiev, transcribed by Andrew Glover, is an exceptional tour de force for concert band. Stylistically reflective of Russian nationalism of the late 1800s, and exploring the full sonorities of the band, this work provides both the opportunity for delicate, lyrical performance as well as a robust climax.
