Tea Cup Jig is an original composition for string orchestra, designed to be fun and engaging for players at approximately Grade 2–3 standard, while remaining accessible for developing ensembles.
The piece features lively, whimsical melodies and charming rhythms that give both students and adult players a satisfying ensemble experience. To support mixed-ability groups, the B parts for violin, viola, cello, and bass are written entirely on open strings, allowing less experienced musicians to participate confidently while the standard parts provide richer textures for more advanced players. For additional flexibility, the Violin 3 part doubles the Viola part, making the piece easy to programme for ensembles without violas.
This work is ideal for school orchestras, community ensembles, and teaching studios, and works beautifully in concerts, workshops, and informal performances.
