This was originally a tune that was part of very first jazz method book, "What Is This Thing Called Jazz? It gave the student an opportunity to perform a minor blues. The introduction leaves the listener wondering as to what is coming next. It then breaks into the main theme in a minor blues form. However, it then becomes an AABA type format with a bridge that goes to a major key and then back to the minor blues for it's full chorus. Jazz improvisation solos are arranged for tenor sax, trumpet and trombone. It is quite an unusual piece and does require a high level of skill by the performers. It would certainly be a great piece for college jazz ensembles as well as professional rehearsal bands that are looking for something that has not been heard before and will certainly intrigue an audience.
