Tala' al-Badru 'Alayna ist einer der ältesten und bekanntesten islamischen Lobgesänge (Naschids). Der Überlieferung nach wurde das Lied von den Einwohnern Medinas (den Ansar) gesungen, um den Propheten Muhammad - Frieden und Segen auf ihm - bei seiner Ankunft nach der Hidschra (Auswanderung) aus Mekka nach Medina im Jahr 622 willkommen zu heißen. Der Vollmond dient in diesem Lied als Metapher für die spirituelle Erleuchtung und die Hoffnung, der der Prophet in die Stadt brachte. Der Text drückt tiefe Dankbarkeit gegenüber Gott / ALLÂH und Freude über die Ankunft des Gesandten aus. Er betont die moralische Führung und den Segen, den er für die Gemeinschaft bedeutet.
