"Take My Breath Away" was written as the love theme for the 1986 film "Top Gun" starring Tom Cruise. The song tells the story of a passionate love that sweeps you off your feet and takes your breath away. The monstrous success of the blockbuster film significantly contributed to the song's exposure and popularity. In this String Trio arrangement, the melody is covered by the 1st Violin, but sometimes in octaves with the 2nd Violin. The cello basically keeps the beat and supplies the tonic of the chords, but occassionally has an imitative melodic figure.
