"(T)raum-Z(n)eit was composed in 2008 to a commission from the Stump-Linshalm Duo, and is dedicated to Petra Stump and Heinz-Peter Linshalm. Space and Time ("Raum" and "Zeit") surely belong amongst the most often-discussed concepts of all. In his 'Transcendental Aesthetics', Immanuel Kant explains that space and time are prerequisites of the sensory imagination. In Relativity Theory, 'space-time' means the combination of the three spatial dimensions together with time as the fourth coordinate, in order to create a four-dimensional space. And in our dreams (singular: 'Traum'), time and space melt to form ambiguous, often surreal images ...
