Syncopation Island
Take your orchestra on a trip to Syncopation Island that only uses quarter, half and whole notes, quarter and whole rests. This trip starts in the key of D to G (no L2’s or 2nd fingers) and then back to the key of D. Vln 2/vla begin arco and have one count to change to pizzicato. ‘Cello and bass begin pizzicato and also have one count to switch to arco. All parts return to arco at the end. Dynamics used are: f, mf, cresc., and all bowing are marked. All parts need to be familiar with the G, D and A strings (the bass never shifts).
Form is AABCAA
Suggested grade is: .5/1 -end of a first full year.
