This symphony is the most important work of Spanish composer Teo Aparicio-Barberan. The 2002 International Contest for Bands Ciudad de Valencia, one of the most prestigious competitions in Europe, marked its first public performance. Throughout the work, which consists of three movements, the composer uses a modern musical vocabulary and combines strong melodic instrumentation with impressive rhythmic passages. Asgard is based on a Scandinavian romantic narrative in the light of the ancient Germanic Sagas....where the flowery landscape remains in that sweet-scented season where spring is always on the brink of summer. Its fields resemble smooth green lawns(maintained by the grazing red cattle and woolly sheep) and its forests are home to deer and songbirds. The area is protected by an unsurmountable stone wall, and is impossible to enter except by the grace of Odin. It is here, at High Nest in Val-hall, that Odin sits on his throne and surveys all those in his dominion.

De premiere vond in 2002 plaats tijdens Ciudad de Valencia, een van de meest prestigieuze internationale wedstrijden voor blaasorkesten in Europa.In dit uit drie delen bestaande werk maakt de componist voortdurend gebruik van een moderne muzikale taal, waarbij hij een welluidende instrumentatie combineert met indrukwekkende ritmische passages. Asgard is gebaseerdop een romantische Scandinavische vertelling in het licht van de oude Germaanse sagen.... waar het landschap vol bloemen voor eeuwig blijft hangen in die zoetgeurende periode waarin de lente in de zomer overgaat. De velden lijkenop zachtgroene gazons (kort gehouden door kudden dieprode koeien en wollige schapen) en de bossen zijn het thuis van talrijke herten en zangvogels. Al deze pracht wordt beschermd door een hoge stenen muur waar je onmogelijk overheenkunt klimmen. Niemand krijgt toegang zonder toestemming van Odin. Hier zit Odin op zijn hoge troon in het Walhalla terwijl hij zijn domeinen overziet.

Die Urauffuhrung fand beim internationalen Wettbewerb fur Blaskapellen Ciudad de Valencia im Jahr 2002 statt, einem der bedeutendsten Wettbewerbe seiner Art in Europa. Der Komponist benutzt in dem aus drei Satzen bestehenden Stuck eine moderne Sprache und kombiniert eine wohlklingende Instrumentierung mit beeindruckenden rhythmischen Teilen. Asgard beruht auf einer romantischen skandinavischen Geschichte vor dem Hintergrund der alten germanischen Gottersagen....wo in der bluhenden Landschaft immer diese suss duftende Jahreszeit am Ubergang vom Fruhjahr zumSommer herrscht. Seine Felder gleichen einem dichten grunen Rasen (kurz gehalten von Herden dunkelroter Kuhe und wolliger Schafe) und seine Walder sind die Heimat zahlloser Hirsche und Singvogel. All das wird geschutzt von einer unerklimmbaren Wand aus fugenlos aneinander gefugten Steinquadern. Ohne die Gnade Odins kamen wir nicht hinein. Hier sitzt Odin auf seinem Thron im Hohen Nest in Walhalla und blickt herab auf alle Wesen in seinem Herrschaftsbereich.

L'edition 2002 du Certamen Internacional de Bandas de Musica - Ciudad de Valencia (Concours International d'Orchestres d'Harmonie - Ville de Valencia, Espagne), l'un des plus prestigieux concours d'Europe, marqua sa premiere creation en presence d'un auditoire. Tout au long de ce morceau en trois mouvements, le compositeur utilise un langage moderne, associant instrumentation sonore et sections rythmiques impressionnantes. La Symphonie ndeg 1 Asgard est inspiree d'une histoire retracant une romance scandinave....la ou le paysage est couvert de fleurs en cette saison empreinte dedouceur, lorsque le printemps est en passe de faire place a l'ete. Ses champs ressemblent a un tapis d'herbe tendre (ou paissent des troupeaux de vaches et des moutons laineux) et ses forets abondent en majestueux cervides et oiseaux aux chants melodieux, a l'abri d'une infranchissable muraille constituee de blocs de pierre juxtaposes. Un mur d'enceinte impossible a franchir, si ce n'est a la grace d'Odin. Car c'est la que siege Odin sur son trone de High Nest, dans le Val-Hall, et observe tous les habitants de son royaume.
