The band transcription of the Symphony “Larà, larà fortissimo” from Aria e Sinfonia (Act III) of the opera Don Crescendo represents a work of particular interest. In the original score, the bass (Don Crescendo) leads the orchestra in a sort of collective rehearsal, establishing a continuous dialogue with the various instruments. The arrangement for band was created with the aim of transforming this vocal-instrumental structure into a fully instrumental version: the themes originally entrusted to the bass voice are here distributed among the different sections of the band. The instrumentation, while adapted to the specific timbral characteristics of the band ensemble, seeks to reproduce the original writing with the utmost fidelity, without additions or omissions, and with full respect for the musical text.
