Symphonie No. 6 in b minor by Louis Vierne Organ - Sheet Music

By Louis Vierne

With his six symphonies for organ, written between 1895 and 1930, Louis Vierne carried on the splendid tradition of this genre and brought it to its peak. The 6 ème Symphonie op. 59, Vierne’s last major work, was composed in the summer of 1930. Along with the beautiful melodic ideas in his slow movements and the occasional grotesqueness in his scherzi and intermezzi, it is above all his chromaticism that characterizes Vierne’s style. In the 6 ème Symphonie – another work in cyclical form – he took traditional tonality to its limits.
