Symphonic Prelude was written on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the St. Andrews school centre in Singapore. After a festive opening in the trumpet(s), a brisker passage based on the school song follows, which then leads to a lyrical middle section. At the close, the opening motif reappears and comes to the fore. The colourful, dynamic instrumentation makes this Symphonic Prelude an excellent appetizer to open your concert.

Symphonic Prelude werd geschreven voor een concert ter gelegenheid van het 150-jarig bestaan van de St. Andrew’s Schools in Singapore. Een feestelijke intro in de trompetten mondt uit in een uptempo gedeelte dat gebaseerd is op het lied van de school, waarna een lyrisch middendeel volgt. Aan het slot treedt het beginmotief opnieuw op de voorgrond. De kleurrijke, dynamische instrumentatie maakt van deze Symphonic Prelude de ideale muzikale appetizer voor uw concert.

Symphonic Prelude wurde für ein Konzert anlässlich des 150-jährigen Bestehens des Schulzentrums St. Andrews in Singapur geschrieben. Nach einer festlichen Eröffnung der Trompete(n) folgt ein schneller Teil, der auf dem Schullied basiert, dann erklingt ein lyrischer Mittelteil. Am Schluss tritt erneut das Anfangsmotiv in den Vordergrund. Die farbige, dynamische Instrumentierung macht dieses "symphonische Präludium” zu einem ausgezeichneten "Appetithappen“ zum Auftakt Ihres Konzerts.

Symphonic Prelude est une commande du complexe scolaire St Andrew’s (Singapour), pour marquer les festivités du 150e anniversaire de la création des différentes écoles. La pièce débute avec une fanfare de trompettes évoquant l’ambiance de fête. Puis la mélodie s’oriente vers une variation enjouée du motif thématique. Enfin la musique s’apaise et laisse entendre un solo de hautbois qui évolue dans un passage central exprimant le calme et la beauté du thème. Le prélude s’achève avec un retour pétillant du motif de fanfare, annonçant ainsi que les festivités sont sur le point de commencer !
