The benefits of warming up sufficiently before practicing have been the subject of various studies in keyboard journals and scientific publications on performance health and medicine. One of the easiest and safest ways to warm up remains to simply perform the activity for a short time period at a lower rate and intensity. Warm-ups included here are relatively short, symmetrical, in progressive difficulty, and based on the physiology of the hand and its proper relation to the keys. A wonderful companion for every player!

Varied and Interesting Warm-ups
I really like this book and use it every day at the start of practicing. Warm-ups range from very simple to quite elaborate, and get the fingers moving nicely. I am enjoying the scale sequences and am noticing my touch improving, as well as the flow of the notes. Not boring! You may need the help of a teacher to explain how some of the exercises work--I did not find it completely intuitive. I like this so much better than just running scales, or repetitive exercise books. It says a lot that I use it so much!
