The opening 'A' melody at m. 9 is a question and answer between Violin I and Violin II/Viola. The second 'A' melody at m. 17 adds Cello as the answering melody to the harmonized Violin and Viola question. The melodies encourage a warm, singing tone. There are build-ups at mm. 25 and 45 that require cohesive ensemble playing at a soft dynamic and tone control throughout the crescendos.The joyous 'B' melody at m. 29 allows Violin I to sing, supported solidly by the other sections of the group.
