Composed by Louise Farrenc. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. This edition: pdf, streaming. 19th Century, Classical, Romantic Period. 93 pages. Rob Bushnell #1256459. Published by Rob Bushnell (A0.1691614).

Written between 1835 and 1838, the French composer Louise Farrenc wrote her 30 études dans tous les tons majeurs et mineurs pour piano (30 Études in all the Major and Minor Keys for Piano), Op. 26. It was during the 1830s that Farrenc was gaining fame as a performer, so much so that in 1842 she was appointment Professor of Piano at the Paris Conservatory. These etudes became a requirement for piano students at the Conservatory in 1845.

This string quartet takes 8 of the etudes and rearranges them into a multi-movement work (with options to play 5, 6 or 7 of the movements instead). A recording of the original etudes can be found on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpbqVxHzQ-Q&list=OLAK5uy_mCsDQqgWdbA0sD-lcvi3HLMRAKr_8Gm_c.
