Suite in G major, RCT 6 for String Trio by Jean-Philippe Rameau String Trio - Digital Sheet Music

By Jean-Philippe Rameau

Rameau: Suite in G major, RCT 6 is made up of the last nine pieces from Nouvelles suites de pièces de clavecin. When combined with Premier Livre de Pièces de Clavecin and Pièces de Clavecin avec une méthode, it is considered the fourth of Rameau’s collections for harpsichord. Each suite in the collection is organized by key, and RCT 6 includes only pieces in G major or G minor. 1. Les tricotets (Rondeau)A lively and joyful rondeau in A-B-A-C-A form, with the subtitle “Rondeau.”2. L'Indifférente (The Indifferent)A beautiful piece with a rather sad feeling, in contrast to the rest of the suite.3. MenuetA calm minuet in G major.4. 2ème MenuetA minuet in G minor, using patterns similar to the first minuet.5. La Poule (The Hen)The gestures of a hen are vividly shown through repeated eighth notes, short rising figures with thirty-second notes, and trills.6. Les trioletsA bright and refreshing piece that releases the tension of the earlier music.7. Les Sauvages (The Savages)A rondeau in A-B-A-C-A form. Strong and rustic, but the second episode (C section) has mysterious and meaningful expression.8. L'Enharmonique (The Enharmonic)A calm and expressive piece with deep character.9. L'Egyptienne (The Egyptian)In contrast to the previous one, this is lively, dynamic, and powerful. For the string trio arrangement, the reference score used was Durand: D. & F. 5007, edited by Charles Camille. The arrangement stays as close to the original as possible while making it easier to perform. It is carefully arranged so that ensemble players can enjoy musical interaction and dialogue throughout the piece.
