Composed in 2004 as an entry in the 2005 International Trumpet Guild's Annual Composition Contest. The work is in three contrasting movements: I. INTRADA; II. LAMENT; and III. MARCH. While the work is basically tonal, it exhibits a "contemporary feel" through the use of a mix of tertial and quartal harmonies, the interjection of occasional measures in odd or mixed meters and - in the first and third movements - the use of strong and incisive rhythms. For advanced soloist - Med. Difficult for parts. (2004).
