This is a solo vehicle for an alto saxophonist that is not part of the sax section in somewhat of a concerto format, including cadenzas. It's a traditional ballad, one section is just the piano and solo alto and it builds from there. There is plenty of improvisation space for the alto soloist and the pianist can be included. This was inspired by the Michel Legrand/Phil Woods collaborations. The top note for the lead trumpet is a concert E. Difficult level.
