best individual instruction book
I'm a 54 year old clarinetist who started on this book myself when I first began. When I started private lessons over 30 years ago I used it because it's what I knew. To this day I think it's the best book to start beginners. By the end of the book they know a variety of time signatures & rhythms and a wide range of notes, all in the context of a good mix of exercises and songs. I've had great success with this book as well as Book 2 in this series. I don't like Book 3 at all, but by then my students are ready for the Hite book.
