As people begin waltzing, he spots the object of his desire and fixates on her as if a spotlight is shining on her while the rest of the room goes dark. His deranged fantasy becomes more and more passionate, until reality hits and the waltz comes to a formal conclusion. This then gives way to a tender, contemplative trio section as the protagonist searches for inner beauty. Composed in 2008.
