By Michael Haydn. By Michael Haydn. Arranged by Lotrare. This edition: pdf, streaming. Classical. 93 pages. Artfonía #1211582. Published by Artfonía (A0.1644508).
The string quintet in C major, written in 1773, by Johann Michael Haydn, , was his first work in the quintet genre, and for many years, the work was thought to be by his older brother, Joseph Haydn. ********************************************************************************************************** With the catalog number MH187, the work consists of four movements: I Allegro II Adagio cantabile III Menuetto IV Allegro molto The second movement (Adagio cantabile) is the famous "Notturno," which gives the complete work its nickname. *************************************************************** For a long time, the work was believed to be by Michael's older brother and was published for years as Franz Joseph Haydn's opus 88. The edition that Artfonía presents today is of the complete work and contains all four movements and their respective instrumental parts.
This work is very difficult to find in any edition other than the battered and ancient version that has been circulating on the internet for years, produced by the 18th-century publisher "Ofenbach *m, chez Jean André."
We have put a lot of care into this edition and we trust in the neatness and precision of our work. However, please, if you have any corrections, comments, or suggestions, feel free to express them in the comments section of the video on our YouTube channel. Thank you and enjoy!
