"Still Young" - another Cat Empire's great hit arranged for rhythm section (guitar, piano, bass, drums) with vocalist (plus backing vocals) and 5 horns (flexible instrumentation). Ska & Dub Step Reggae, Tempo 146, in the key of B (natural!) or G# minor. (Hard to read for the horn players but fun to play!)
After an epic brass intro, the song jumps into a dub step reggae for the verse, followed by a pre-chorus and chorus in a driving ska groove. The song climaxes into the famous "oh oh oh"-chorus for everybody to sing along.
All parts, lyrics and full score are included.
Horn parts 1 & 2 are for Trumpet or Alto Sax, 3 & 4 for Tenor Sax or Trombone, horn 5 is for Bari Sax. (The arrangemant sounds fine with 4 horns, but the bari sax adds the good stuff!)
Add a percussion player if you like.
The main and backing vocal parts are written out, but also an additional lyric sheet is prvided for easier reading. Some of the vocal samples have been written into the backing vocal parts (for fun). The best sound is achieved with a male lead vocalist and a female backing vocalist, since it is mostly a third higher than the main vocals.
I added a solo section for the bari sax, but feel free to open it up for more soloists, or you might also skip the entire part if you want to keep it closer to the original.
It is a really fun tune to perform live - it will get your audience dancing & singing! On several Cat Empire live concerts the crowd kept on singing the chorus for over 10 minutes until the band finally returned onto the stage and kept on playing... hope this will happen at your gig as well! Have fun.
