Ooga Chaka Ooga Ooga
During a caroling rehearsal with 8 SATB voices, we had a chance to read through Hooked on a Feeling. I always liked the version of this song that started with the caveman-like chant. This arrangement embraces that feeling.It's written for Male voices but since we had women in the room, we had them read through the lead line changing girl to boy. Tenor Baritones reading the TB line modified the Ba wah wah wah wah lyric to chin music or mimicking trumpets/trombones vocally since that's what the line is copying from the original recording.It's not difficult to read through. There were some moments that required tweaking in order to make sure the backgrounds were in sync but I blame the singers and not the arrangement. I don't feel it would require much rehearsal to get it performance ready but a decent amount is needed.Do I dare say that overall, we were hooked?
