Suitable
It's a good book. Well thought out and covers the basics thoroughly.
It is however a beginners book for children and since I am an adult I have moved on to more mature instructions for adults. I do not regret buying it. I will keep it and refer back to it for reference. |

Different from modern methods
Step by Step is a very dated series, however I find it to be excellent supplemental music. When a student can't move as fast as Faber or Alfred, we take a side trip into Burnam. Many times, it has been exactly what the student needed to catch up with their modern method.

Step by Step Piano Course-Book 1
I have been a long time fan of Edna Mae Burnam with her Daily Dozen exercise books. I purchased the Step by Step books to use to teach my six year old grandson and am looking forward to the progress he will make.

Step by Step, Book 1
I love this book for young beginners! Mrs. Burnam has very short pieces written with notes (no pre-notes). Some of the pieces are only 4 measures long, with cute titles. The students do not feel intimidated by too much information at once.

Step By Step piano series
I love teaching from this series because it introduces one note or musical notaion at a time so the students have a chance to really learn how to read music.

I love this series because it teaches one musical notation or note at a time, giving the students a chance to really learn what each musical notation means. I use this series to teach both young and older students alike. When they complete this series they really know how to read music.

Fabulous for Yong Students
When I was younger, I learned to play piano through this book. Now as a new piano teacher, I find this book perfect for my younger students. They really enjoy the cute pieces and theory activities the book provides. It's a great starter book for learning keys and theory!
