This lovely setting joins a long line of Mr. Helvey's distinguished settings of spirituals. Following a brief a cappella rendition of the tune, we find simple, sustained vocal lines supported by a flowing keyboard accompaniment. A saxophone obbligato, which can also be played by violin or flute, adds a unique color to the overall sound. Also available for SATB. Optional soprano sax (or B-flat clarinet, violin or flute) part included in the octavo.

Wonderful arrangement
Bought this because the recording was so beautiful. Thought it would be hard for my TTBB choir but they have learnt it easily. They really enjoy singing it because of the wide variety of dynamics, gentleness and strength. Try it - you won't be disappointed and I am sure the audience will appreciate it too.
