Dulcie Sybil Holland (5 January 1913 – 21 May 2000) was an Australian composer and music educator, regarded by some critics as one of the more significant composers of her generation. In 1936, she travelled to London to study composition at the Royal College of Music with John Ireland, winning the Blumenthal Scholarship for composition - she returned to Australia at the outbreak of World War Two in 1939. During the 1940s, alongside her composing she wrote a number of children's books and began a 25 year association with the North Shore Symphony Orchestra. 'Starlight' was originally composed for flute and piano duet around 1974 and lasts for around 3 minutes; this arrangement for concert band spreads the musical lines of each through the ensemble, and has been created as part of an ongoing project to bring more music by women into the worldwide repertoire. #ArrangeMeGoals2023.
