Overall fun, but with questionable transpositions
I bought this to play some of the main themes for my two Star Wars-obsessed boys in a manner suited to my mediocre piano skills. Overall, these are good for early intermediates, with caveats. The arrangements are generally good and accurate, though Scherzo for X-Wings is notated in quarter notes that would be easier to play as eighth notes. The decision to transpose the iconic main theme to G major from the original Bb is really hard to understand. There are Bb major pieces in the collection and even the rousing March of the Resistance accurately presents all the modulations in their correct keys, including the five flats of Bb *minor*. That Girl With the Staff, Torn Apart are also transposed. The main theme's G major transposition is most felt in the jarring difference it makes to the end of Jedi Steps and Finale, where everything is correct up to the moment the theme returns at the end in the wrong key from the recording. Gah! Still, I recommend this compilation.
