Composed by Deborah Swanger Fortier. 20th Century,Children,Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Deborah Swanger Fortier #14083. Published by Deborah Swanger Fortier (A0.938597).

In the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York, an astounding series of waterfalls splash vigorously down the rocks, finally fanning out into a deep, calm pool. This difficult-sounding but easy impressionistic style late beginner piano piece says it all. Try not to get too wet by the high flung spray!

Split Rock Falls is a Hit!
I love this piece but can't deny a personal bias, as a lover of the beautiful swimming hole that inspired this beautiful piece. Fortier does great justice to Split Rock Falls in capturing the essence of multiple levels of waterfalls, cool, crystal clean water and a cascade of melodies. I highly recommend it!

Split Rock Falls
I loved this piece. I love how calm and beautiful it is. Usually I like more jazzy like pieces but this one was different.

Split Rock Falls
This is an engaging piece, very lovely to hear and physically enjoyable to play. Great for teaching rotation, hand crossing, triplet eighths, broken chords, thirds in scale passages. A wonderful package of technical and musical elements!

Engages creativity
I just love Deborah Fortier's pieces for the piano. They bring such a smile to my student's faces. Right away I could see the lightbulb go off in their imaginations and connections being made. These pieces have a way to just infuse expression with a fundamental, pianistic writing that makes the learning process an exploration in creativity...It's the musical equivalent of opening up a set of oil paints and saying to the student--GO!! CREATE!! IMAGINE! ENGAGE!!
