This piece was written at the request of the wife of the Musical Director of the Thanet Chamber Choir as a surprise for her husband's 40th birthday. The brief was either an anthem or some special arrangement of "Happy Birthday". Well, using words from Pliny (the Younger?) and a very disguised version of the latter, I arrived at the attached. The MP3 was recorded by individuals at home during the second COVID lockdown and put together to be played on his birthday. If you are looking for something more than the usual, either as a birthday treat or a concert "guess the tune" item, this could be for your choir. All well within the range of any competent choir and with just one optional split (for any second basses).
