Southern Cross - A Lullaby Chamber Music - Digital Sheet Music

Lyric Sample: There’s a light in the distant darkness tonight. Soon we’ll be there, tomorrow I swear. May the fire in your heart and eyes be as bright. This my silent prayer. So rest baby rest, by the Shining be blest, never in shadows lost . This lone holy candle is guiding us on under the Southern Cross.Jim Stewart created this lovely song in 1992. In addition to his talents as an historian, poet and composer Jim is known as a wordsmith. His lyrics tell the story and pull at the heart strings. This song was featured in the Opera New Brunswick 2002 multi media production of The Marco Polo Suite –A Folk Opera. In that production a mother calming her child’s fears. Gently lulling her to sleep...encouraging hope and peaceful dreams. In this arrangement Chris has added the flute and strings to join the harp and singer. This sound bite demonstrates the Chamber Orchestra version, but can be played as an Octet featuring: Mezzo Soprano, 1- Flute , 1- harper, 2 Violins, 1-Viola, 1- Cello 1- Bass . Either way - a wonderful addition to an intimate evening of music.
