Sound Paths is a set of six duets for flutes. It was my intention to write a work that was both a creative piece as well as a set of technical challenges.
The first duet,(Gentle, elegant), is a gentle warmup and study based on the interval of the third and featuring flowing arpeggios. The second duet is straight forward in its intent ,save for the fact that the melody and accompaniment are exchanged throughout.This is followed by a scherzo ,characteristically playful throughout as well as challenging tonguing wise.The fourth centers around the use of trills, while the next is rapid and fleeting with a good share of technical challenges. Finally, duet six is a singing post script of sorts. in addition, it is both a high register and breath control challenge. I hope you consider Sound Paths for future endeavors.
