This simplified arrangement was put together for my Band at W O Smith Music School. I wanted to have some more genres represented on our concert and this is such a cool tune I thought it was a good fit. As you will see, this is not a fully polished arrangement (I apologize for any notaCon flubs since this was not done on my normal soFware) where you can simply start at the beginning and play to the end. The goal here was to get the A secCon and B secCon down on paper and call the form out in real Cme. If I remember correctly, when we performed this we started at the top, played through A twice, then B once, A again, then called solos (over A’s changes) and played the same form again aFer solos to finish the tune. We ended on the last note of measure 19 when we got back to B. You can really piecemeal it together however you would like.

There are parts for T, DS, G, B and Drums and there is an “Alt Tenor” part. This was created for and performed by a student with some fairly pronounced learning differences. It follows the harmony parts, sCcks to 3 notes for the most part, and simplifies the rhythms. Notes in Parentheses are only to be played when appropriate to the form. EX: The last measure’s parentheses notes are only played when heading back to A. Measure 17 has lots of notes across the instruments that are only played when ending the piece. For solos, I just gave them the notes for the F min Blues and said to start there but feel free to explore past those notes when you want. The drum part could easily be divided into Shaker, Clave, and Cajon or something else. Hi-hats = Shaker, Snare = Clave, Kick = Cajon Bass sound. I hope you and your band enjoy playing this tune!
