Good urtext collection of Beethoven sonatinas

This urtext from 1972 contains the early works found in other sonatina collections plus WoO 50 (probably unfinished) and Op. 79, which Beethoven renamed easy sonatina as an afterthought. The preface is good but the critical commentary is only in German. The fingerings are conventional and rather sparse for beginners. The source materials present problems which this edition tends to solve the same way as earlier editions. A professional might find it interesting to compare this to a more clinical urtext edition. This collection is a good set of pieces for sophisticated students but Op 79 is a far leap in difficulty from the other works. A professional will enjoy playing this album in its entirety.
