This is a piano piece written in a highly classical style, cast as a single-movement sonatino. The composer, Arash Aalaei, is a violinist and does not play the piano—a rare case among composers. As a result, the fingering and textural logic of the piece reflect a distinctly violinistic way of thinking, which performers may notice in the phrasing and hand distribution. This work was written in 2003.
