This work is a three-movement sonatina commissioned by the Mississippi Music Teachers Association for a high school age musician with well-developed playing skills. Duration is between 8 and 8 1/2 minutes making it eminently useful as a recital piece for this age group. Rhythmic complexities are kept to a minimum. The linear approach to writing minimizes reaching large chords. There is some mild dissonance which can introduce the student to works which stretch the bounds of tonality. .
