The present revision of the six sonatas for harpsichord, by Domenico Cimarosa (Aversa, Naples, 17 December 1749; Venice, 11 January 1801), is based on the manuscript belonging to the Fondo Musicale Noseda in the library of the Conservatory Guiseppe Verdi of Milan. The title of the manuscript (certainly not original, but the work of a copyist) is as follows: Sonate per Cembalo / del Sig.r D.n Domenico Cimarosa / Per uso della Sig.ra D. Norina Anguilli The revision conforms to the manuscript, with the editor's additions enclosed in parenthesis. This is the first edition of the work, which is mentioned in Cimarosa's catalog of works in the encyclopedia LA MUSICA (UTET, Turin, 1966).
