In 1964 the middle movement (then titled ‘Larghetto’) was published by Columbia Music Co. It’s not clear why this was the only movement which was published, but we are now using the opportunity to publish the whole work. The Sonata is a lengthy work, by Duarte’s standards, standing at more than 400 bars and we are pleased to bring it forward to the guitar-playing community for study, performance and enjoyment.
La Sonate Op. 4 en trois mouvements a été écrite en 1946-1947. En 1964, le mouvement central (alors intitulé « Larghetto ») a été publié par Columbia Music Co. On ne sait pas exactement pourquoi ce fut le seul mouvement à être publié, mais nous profitons maintenant de l’occasion pour publier l’œuvre entière. La Sonate est une œuvre longue, selon les standards de Duarte, comptant plus de 400 mesures et nous sommes heureux de la proposer à la communauté des guitaristes pour qu’elle puisse l’étudier, l’interpréter et en profiter.
