This delightful little piece has been a favorite of mine since the days of Wendy Carlos and “The Well-Tempered Synthesizer.” It is a single-movement piece which has two sections, both of which repeat. The total play time is about 4:50. It is upbeat in a fast 3/8 (in 1) and full of joy. It would make a lovely concert opener.
This arrangement for flute choir includes piccolo, two C-flutes, alto, bass, and contra. I had actually arranged this piece years ago but never published it. This year I returned to an urtext edition and made several corrections to my arrangement. The tempo and articulations are mine, designed to fit the flute. I debated whether to leave them out, as Scarlatti wrote it, but opted to lend some direction to the modern day flute choir. Trills should start on the upper note. The rest of the Baroque style interpretation I leave to you.
