Sonata for two guitars by Giovanni Battista Martini (1706-1784)
G.B. Martini, also known as Padre Martini, was an Italian Conventual Franciscan friar, who was a leading musician, composer, and music historian of the generation after J.S. Bach and a mentor to Mozart and Johann Christian Bach. This Sonata (Allemande-Grave-Aria) is from a set of 12 sonatas ‘per l’Organo e il Cembalo’ published in 1742, and I have arranged it for two guitars.
