Sonata for Timpani
This is a outstanding piece of literature. For NYSSMA, a festival where students perform solos to get graded on a grade out of 100 when playing a level 5 or 6 piece of music, this was a great piece to perform. The player gets to experience many fun rhythms and time signatures through this work. The first movement shows of a more musical way of the timpani. The 2nd movement shows how to play in a jazz-feel and also how to play some intense parts using your hands. Closing up the work is the 3rd Movement where you experience time signature changes almost every measure. The metric Modulations in the #rd Movement are wild. I overall really like this peice! :D ~Austin Aserian
